At IMA ART Fertility, our approach to surrogate screening is deeply personal, highly selective, and unlike anything found in mass market agencies. The process is led exclusively by our Co-Founders, Michelle Tang and Ron Sonnenberg—ensuring that every candidate is emotionally aligned, medically qualified, and compatible with the intimate, high-touch experience that defines IMA ART.
This level of discretion and personal attention cannot be outsourced. And we do not.

Founder-Led Screening, Not Delegated to Intake Case Staff
At IMA ART, our surrogate screening process is not left to junior intake coordinators or rotating caseworkers or AI. From the very first contact, every potential surrogate is personally evaluated and vetted by our Co-Founders—Michelle Tang and Ron Sonnenberg. This is not a marketing flourish. This is our high standard, designed for discerning clients.
Michelle Tang is able to personally interview and screen each potential surrogate because we intentionally limit the number of private clients and surrogates we welcome into our program. This purposeful curation ensures every journey receives the time, discretion, and excellence it deserves
Multi-Layered Evaluation Over Time
The screening process unfolds over several stages—often across days, weeks, or even months. This is intentional. We believe that emotional maturity, psychological stability, and long-term commitment are revealed over time, not in a single intake call. During this process, we build a confidential profile, probe for alignment in values and lifestyle, and evaluate whether each candidate can uphold the standards of care required in an IMA ART journey.
Once a candidate demonstrates preliminary compatibility, she is scheduled for a full medical screening—typically in Beverly Hills—coordinated through IMA ART’s fertility concierge and our network of world-class reproductive endocrinologists.

Surrogates Are Not Numbers. They’re Relationships.
We do not onboard surrogates by the dozen. We are not an agency. We are a Fertility Maison—where every relationship matters, and every match is intentional. Our commitment to screening surrogates with founder-level involvement is not scalable by design. It is, however, what luxury surrogacy-and our private fertility clients-demand.
Exacting Standards That Evolve—and Are Never Delegated
Our surrogate requirements are continuously reviewed and refined. We do not rely on templates or mass onboarding strategies. Every acceptance into our program is the result of a deeply considered process, guided by emotional intelligence and our standards of savoir faire.

What This Means for Our Private Clients
For private clients building their families through IMA ART, this founder-led screening means:
Every surrogate has passed multiple interviews, conducted directly by Michelle Tang.
Each woman has been vetted for emotional resilience and communication style—not just medical metrics.
The match is based on more than availability; it’s based on alignment and long-term harmony.
Luxury Surrogacy Begins with Human-Led, CoFounder Excellence
Our clients are not looking for volume. They are looking for certainty. They are looking for privacy, and an experience worthy of the family they are creating. By ensuring every surrogate enters our program through the personal oversight of our Co-Founders, we work to protect the integrity of that experience from day one.
